Description
This course is aimed at young graduates, humanitarian or health sector professionals, and people in career transition, seeking to acquire the skills needed to assess, prevent, and respond to food security and nutrition crises in humanitarian and development contexts. That's why it offers comprehensive training in food security and nutrition, covering needs assessment, management of malnutrition, implementation of food resilience programs, and sector coordination mechanisms, enabling participants to effectively assist vulnerable populations.
Objectifs pédagogiques
Understand the concepts and challenges of food security and nutrition Conduct food security assessments (EFSA, SMART surveys) Identify and manage different forms of malnutrition (acute, chronic) Implement nutrition programs (screening, CMAM, infant feeding) Design food resilience interventions (cash transfers, agricultural support) Know the sector's standards (Sphere standards, food security cluster) Ensure monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of SAN programs Coordinate interventions with humanitarian and government actors

-Introduction to food security and nutrition: concepts and challenges -Institutional framework and actors (food security cluster, WFP, UNICEF, NGOs) -Food security assessment methodologies (EFSA, harmonized framework) -Nutritional surveys and screening (SMART, MUAC) -Management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and chronic malnutrition -Infant and young child feeding (IYCF) in emergencies -Food resilience programs: cash transfers, agricultural support -Food security in emergency contexts (displacement, disaster, conflict) -Humanitarian standards and sector norms (Sphere standards) -Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of SAN programs -Inter-agency coordination and cluster work -Case study and simulation of a response to a food crisis

A BAC level is recommended.
